To travel is to discover and exchange, to carry with you, to leave behind, mix, grind and rediscover. Through reflection and introspection, while visiting another often contradictory society, we are able to look from the outside in and from the inside out. The works presented in this exhibition range from poetic reflections, like Anna Boggon's glass branches, resin cast bamboo ladders and periscope-cabinet, to a sense of bewilderment and outsider-ness transferred upon the audience in Lu Chunsheng's 29-minute narrative video, The History Of Chemistry. This feeling becomes even stronger in Yue Luping's Far People Project showing estranged communities and odd social entities. Finally, David Cotterrell's maximum density urban planning mock-up turns the viewer into the outsider of this exhibition.
